Intermatrix Hasn’t Actually Figured Out How To Produce Your Pre-Ordered Tablet
We found an Intermatrix posting on Freelancer requesting a developer who can make it happen.
Quick update on the report we published back on March 5th about the Australian company Intermatrix that is offering pre-orders for the “the world’s first Ubuntu tablet” according to their website.
We were checking our usual sources, combing the web daily for Ubuntu Touch news tidbits to share with you ravenous readers as usual when we came across an interesting posting on Freelancer.com. Freelancer is an online marketplace where businesses and individuals can outsource various IT related jobs. In this case it appears that Intermatrix is looking to hire a developer that can “create a deployable “Ubuntu Touch” image for our device“.
I say ‘appears” because it’s just an online posting, not a sealed confession signed by the founder of Intermatrix in blood. However, one might draw their own conclusions after reading through the posting and noticing it was posted by the user “intermatrix”.
We couldn’t find any dates on the posting but it seems the Australian company posted this fairly recently. In the image below you can clearly see that the post was made by “intermatrix” and that the poster has been updating the job as recently as today, March 20th.
Cutting it a bit close some might say. The job posting has 6 days left so given that time frame with an added month to select, get all the legal stuff out of the way, and bring on board their new tablet maestro, they would be left with basically just the Summer to get the work done and get it through the necessary testing processes you’d imagine would be in place for a company offering pre-ordering on one of the most anticipated tablet OSes this year.
So OK, confession time. Even with all the hate and malcontent I’ve spewed this month over this decidedly dubious offering, I have to admit, I still secretly want one. There, I said it… stop looking at me like that.
Who knows though. If you’re a dev-head this might be just the opportunity you’re looking for. Time to get off of the sidelines and be a part of history. Or, you know, not.
